February 9, 2010 February's meeting we will work on a few more hats and some mittens for pre-schoolers. We will also be learning about pressing and ironing our sewing projects as we go. Mac from the American Sewing Guild will be showing us some of the techniques she has learned.
January 12, 2010 January’s Meeting on Jan. 12, 2010 we learned to sew on polar fleece. We made 15 hats for preschool aged children at a local school. Some of the preschoolers don’t have access to winter gear. A local American Sewing Guild Member, Cherish K. will help us find the best preschool or headstart to donate them to.
December 8, 09 The December was a great Christmas Party! The Club President Marissa K. helped with all the prep-work on the sewing project. We made Mitten Christmas Ornament. We learned some new hand stitches. French knots, daisy stitch, half back, and the blanket stitch. We also had some fantastic holiday snacks. We exchanged gifts as well. Some of the gifts were made the the young members. A crochet bear and knitted hats. We all had a great time. Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
November 4, 09 At the November meeting we were able to present 200 holiday gift bags sewn by our members to the Special Santa Program. One of ‘Santa’s Helpers’ came and shared with us about the program. These bags will be filled with gifts for young ladies new born to 17 in the Mat-su Valley area. We also had a Thanksgiving party with treats, punch, and put all the finishing touches on the the beautiful bags.
The October meetings got us started on the Special Santa Program project. Now we're about 3/4 the way to our goal of 200 gift bags. We have 2 meeting left Oct 27 and Nov 10 before we need to turn them in. We may even be able to invite the folks from Special Santa Program over to our Nov 10th meeting for our Thanksgiving celebration and to receive the bags they requested. That would be 4 days before our Nov 14 deadline. Great job.
Out next meetings will be work sessions. We encourage any member who can make them to come and anyone new who is interested in what we are doing, come and join us on Tuesdays. Oct 6, Oct 13, Oct. 27 and Nov 10, 2009. We will meet at Aurora Creative Designs Sewing Studio at 820 Hilltop D. Palmer. |
